Fishing Limits:

Recreational Snapper fishing is open in South East Fishing Zone only.

The following daily fishing limits apply:

Size limit: 38 cm

Personal daily bag limit: 2

Daily boat limit: 6 (applies when 3 or more people are fishing on board)

If you accidentally hook Snapper while fishing for other species, you must carefully return them to the water immediately.

We advise using a release weight to release undersized or unintentionally caught Snapper.

Closures:

The West Coast, Spencer Gulf and Gulf St Vincent/Kangaroo Island Fishing Zones are closed to Snapper fishing until 30 June 2026.

Catch and release fishing is strictly prohibited in closed areas.

You must not transit through a snapper closure area if you have legally caught Snapper on board.
